Grand Bahama Island - This year's Grand Bahama Summer Junkanoo Festival dates are set for every Thursday in July!

The festival takes place at the idyllic location of Taino Beach and promises food, music, culture, arts & crafts, Junkanoo and fun!

This year's dates are as follows: July ; 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th, from 6pm to 11pm.

The Ministry of Tourism and Aviation remains committed to working in partnership with members of the community to deliver a signature event each summer, to proudly highlight our unique culture and centuries old traditions.

Blues Hall of Fame inductee, Roxy Perry (vocals and harmonica) arrived in Grand Bahama along with her band members Bob Fusco (bass guitar) and Jim Moran (lead guitar) and will be on a media tour over the next two days, along with rehearsals with local noted musicians Joe Fox and Kevin Fox; all leading up to the big show, one night only, at the Joker's Wild on Saturday, May 29th at 8pm. From beginning to end, there was never a dull moment as Naturally 7 went from song to amazing song during their two hours plus performance; boldly taking the human voice to where no one thought it could go. Indeed, Naturally 7 Live was a family event. Attendees all agreed they received more than their money's worth. The video takes you on a journey from Naturally 7's red carpet arrival at Grand Bahama International Airport to their stop at COOL96 Grand Bahama radio station to a short live in-concert segment. Naturally 7s multi-talented band members Roger Thomas (musical director, arranger, 1st Baritone, Rap), Warren Thomas (percussion, guitar, clarinet, 3rd tenor) Rod Eldridge (1st tenor, scratching, trumpet), Jamal Reed (4th Tenor, electric guitar), Dwight Stewart (2nd baritone), Garfield Buckley (2nd Tenor, Harmonica) and Hops Hutton (Bass) took their audience on a mesmerizing musical journey. They were taken from funk to gospel, Motown to Abbey Road and back with snippets of Hip Hop along the way. In addition to their hit singles Wall of Sound and "In The Air Tonight", Naturally 7 performed tunes made popular by The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, Michael Jackson and more to an audience that relished every moment. Three brave young persons came on stage during intermission and entertained the crowd. The big intermission surprise was when Grand Bahama Performing Arts Society founder, Dalia Feldman was coaxed to go on stage; she performed a portion of the Broadway show tune, Popular to thunderous applause. Interview with Bahamian Jazz Artist, Brettina Robinson

Brettina Robinson, a Bahamian jazz recording artist based in Los Angeles, sang two smooth Jazz singles at The Super Model of The Bahamas event that took place on Sunday April 25th at The British Colonial Hotel. The talented and beautiful Brettina fit in well, in the company of the attractive young contestants vying for the coveted title of Super Model. Her performances were well received by the audience which covered a wide age range of appreciative persons from all sectors. The Bahamas Weekly News Team was on hand to interview Brettina after her gala performances to get a few words from her on her background and where she is heading with her career. Brettina comes from a musically gifted family, which includes her uncles T-Coakley and Kirk Coakley and her cousin Dave Mackey (TBW webmaster) of the T-Connection.
